Trip Report

North Fork Skokomish River — Friday, Nov. 11, 2022

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal

Road: Due to snow and lots of downed trees on the road, the road was closed about 1 mile from the TH and campground (just after the Bear Gulch Day Area). Cars were parking right at the gate closure, which worked just fine.

Trail: The trail has snow on it, although it's not hard to walk on (slightly slippery). We initially wanted to go further (up to Big Log Campground, roughly 6 miles in), but due to the additional road walk and snow on trail, we just went about 2ish miles up the trail and then looped it with the Staircase Campground loop. It was still a nice little afternoon walk in some beautiful woods. There is still some fall foliage up there, so that was nice! I imagine in the next week or two it will be fully gone. Some of the small waterfalls on the road and trail were starting to fill up again.
