Driving to the trailhead was fairly difficult. The road is rough with large potholes and there was snow and ice the last 30 minutes of driving to the trailhead. We have an all-wheel drive vehicle and yet we still needed to use our vehicle snow socks to avoid slipping in the steep areas of the narrow road.
When we arrived at the trailhead at 11am we were the only car there. When we left around 3pm we were the only car there and we didn’t see anyone on the trail the entire hike.
The hike was beautiful! It was a clear sunny day with great views at multiples points throughout the hike. There was snow on the entire trail but it was very manageable with spikes on. Snowshoes were not needed at any point. We saw a lot of animal tracks on the trail and it was clear there hasn’t been much human activity on the trail the past 1-2 weeks.
This hike was a delight! I don’t think I’ll go again until the spring/summer though since the road to the trailhead is difficult to manage.
