Wear snow spikes/cleats or bring hiking poles! Trail was covered in snow and parts were iced over and quite slippery on the way down!
Roads were pretty clear of snow but the parking lots were covered in snow and icy. A sedan was having trouble getting out of the parking lot so AWD is recommended.
Arrived at around 12noon on a Saturday and all surrounding lots were pretty full but we managed to get the last spot at one of the lots. Lots of people on the trail and plenty of dogs.
Great hike for my dog! Seems manageable for all dog types-- I saw pups of all ages and sizes on the trail. It's a moderate push upward with a few switchbacks but the ledge was a nice reward. Stunning views of the land and snow covered trees/mountains from the ledge but it was a pretty crowded up there!
