Arrived at trailhead at 750 on a Saturday and they were plowing the parking lot. The guy said this is the first year they will be plowing that road. Thank you! The trail was covered with a foot of new snow. We snowshoed until about 8/10 of a mile to the lake. The snow was waist deep even with snowshoes. We turned around at this point. It was a beautiful winter wonderland hike. We passed by about 6-10 groups on the way down. Since we did all the hard work starting the trail I bet the groups behind us finished the trail to the lake. Took us 4.5 hours. We used snowshoes but had to blaze the trail; many groups behind us were just in boots.
