A nice way to start the New Year! We just hiked to Sares Head. The trail is well built (thank you WTA trail crews!!!). There was one fresh windfall which we improved upon a little bit. (Remember that Swiss Army knife among your 10 essentials? Ours has a saw.) Secondary trails tend to be rocky- rooty and narrow.
The views are splendid, of course. Parts of the forest are pretty even in winter. Unfortunately the sun came out only after we left Sharpe Park.
Later, we saw porpoises from nearby Rosario Head. Bring binoculars and look for them.
