We ended up doing a shorter hike since the weather was on the rainy side. A few cars at the main trailhead parking lot when we arrived. After getting out to the river viewpoint not too far from the trailhead we met two senior hikers from North Bend and had a chat with them on other hiking trails. They said they had seen a beaver in the water of Oxbow Slough, but we did not. From the viewpoint you have a nice view of the Mid Fork Snoqualmie River. We saw that two more trees had blown over at the top of the riverbank since our last hike here two years ago.
This time we did the loop trail CCW. This time of year, the slough area has a different look. Along the way we found two blown down trees, one an old Alder snag and the other a green Alder tree. After crossing the big wood truss bridge over the outlet of Oxbow Slough we took the short side trail down to the Mid Fork Snoqualmie River. The river was not high. We then headed back to the main loop trail and hiked back to the parking lot. When we got near the parking lot, two Subaru WRX's came roaring up the Middle Fork Road like they were in a rally race.
Even through it was raining lightly, we had a nice hike on the Oxbow Loop Trail.
