I joined the Mount St. Helens Institute for a snowshoe excursion on this beautiful February day. We started from the Marble Mountain sno-park, which was OVERFLOWING due to the spectacular weather. We started on the Pine Marten Trail on icy/crunchy snow using micro spikes. We continued onto FR 83 to the June Lake trailhead, then onward to the lake. No snowshoes needed until we cut across the rock field to the Pika ski trail. Most of us the switched back to spikes as we continued back to the sno-park. It was such a beautiful day!
