After visiting family in Burlington we bundled up and took a quick hike to stretch our legs and enjoy the sunshine. Parking offered easy access to the trailhead and we set off on our adventure on the 1 mile loop trail. When the paved trail ended we continued straight on the gravel path. We noticed some signs of spring with Indian Plum leaves starting to emerge. It was such a beautiful clear day the view of Mt. Baker was stunning. The kids (ages 7 and 4) thought the details engraved on the bench were really neat too. As we got closer to the meadow with views looking out towards Padilla Bay, we also saw a few bald eagles flying overhead. There were a few spots where ice was over the paved section of trail and it was slippery, the kids loved pretending they were ice skaters. 40 mins of nature exploration, finding glimpses of spring to come and taking in the views was just what we needed. After we completed the loop we decided to head to Edison for a delicious treat from the Bread Farm. #lovelocaltrails
