Luckily, the WSDOT crew was just finishing snow plowing the road as I arrived.
There is up to two feet of snow on the trail now. My show shoes sank 6-12" with each step. It made for quite a workout! I only went out about a mile and a half before deciding to head back. But it was peaceful and beautiful and worth it.
Although I didn't see any animals in person, there was plenty of evidence that post holing doesn't deter the elk along this trail.

I just added one. 🙂 Doesn't do a great job of showing the snow depth tho.
