After a few hours at Paradise, I drove back down and parked at the Carter Falls trailhead to continue where I had left off on the Wonderland yesterday.
Because it was Saturday now, there were definitely more people and there was a broken trail across the Nisqually. With my snowshoes on it was easy to cross the bridge but afterwards it was compact snow again making the snowshoes a bit superfluous. There was one avalanche area with rollerballs and I knew there would be more up head like it.
I went up about .75 miles, thinking about how I had not been particularly impressed with Carter Falls when I hiked the Wonderland and maybe I would just come back tomorrow without my snowshoes. Yes, I was too lazy to stop and stash them on my pack. Plus, a burger at the Elbe Bar & Grill was calling my name.
I dawdled back down at the bridge because most folks had headed out, enjoying the sun on my face. Between this and Paradise, I was glad I remembered sunscreen today!
