Slab Camp Creek and Gray Wolf River — Thursday, Mar. 30, 2023

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal
last section of road before the TH

The road going in has some pot holes but overall it wasn't too bad. The last tenth of a mile did have snow and the parking area was icy so take care when getting out of your car.

At first, it was a little confusing to find the start of the trail as both Deer Ridge and Slab Camp trails leave from here and the area is covered in snow. The TH sign shows Slab Camp to the left and Deer Ridge to the right but you actually walk down the same trail for about 30 feet before they split... just past the big rocks.

The trail was lovely and peaceful. There were a few snowy sections in the first half mile but after that the trail to the bridge was snow free. I only saw one other person during my hike and on the drive out I saw a huge eagle eating some snack.

Pass these rocks at TH before the two trails split
