Arrived to the trailhead at 7:30 a.m., and there were about a dozen cars already there. The two trailhead bathrooms were in good condition and the road is passable for all cars. The trail was completely snow free and not too crowded. I think most people parked were doing Bridal Veil Falls.
I forgot how many stairs this trail has; it makes the elevation gain especially brutal but efficient. After about an hour and a half of hiking, I reached the lake, which I had to myself for about 20 minutes before another group arrived.
There was still snow on most of the lake, so it wasn’t quite warm enough to swim, but the views are still stunning. I left around 11 a.m. because it started to get crowded. It seems I picked the perfect time because two groups blasting music on speakers were headed to the lake as I walked out. Come on, y’all, no one wants to hear your techno blaring in the wilderness.
Arrived back to the parking lot a little after noon, and it was completely full (as was the lower overflow lot). If you’re planning to come on a weekend, go early!)
