Twisp Pass — Saturday, Jun. 3, 2023

North Cascades > Methow/Sawtooth
The little lake near Twisp Pass

Probably easiest to park at the Gilbert Trailhead. The last .5 miles of road to Roads End was closed, and if you walk up the road you have to schwack 30 yards up the hillside to find the trail from the campground.

The trail up to Twisp Pass is in pretty good shape and almost entirely snow-free now, easy to follow. The handful of downed trees across the trail weren't difficult to overcome except for one rather large one that required a flopping beached-whale approach.

I continued along the ridge to the small lake that's only .5 miles (maybe less) from the pass, that trail was still half buried but also not hard to follow.

The wildflowers are out in force along the trail. On the way down I counted at least 34 different varieties.

Also saw some bear prints from the day or two prior in the snow near the pass.
