I arrived at the Upper Trailhead around 9 AM. I counted eight other cars, with space for a few more in the parking lot. The toilet facilities were well-stocked. The road to the trailhead was bumpy towards the end, but I had no issues with my high-clearance vehicle.
The trail itself is in good shape. The grade/steepness is consistent, allowing for a steady pace. There are small patches of wildflowers blooming. When I started, there was a temperature/atmospheric inversion, hiding Puget Sound and the surrounding areas. That said, most of the fog dissipated throughout the morning. The Cascades remained shrouded in clouds, but I could barely make out Mount Baker and Mount Rainier.
Once at the top, you can optionally hike for a few more minutes to reach the North Peak. I recommend it because it offers a better perspective of what lies north, especially for such a small amount of extra distance. I also found it quieter, so it's worth it if you're seeking solitude.
Be careful when you're roaming the peak off the beaten path to bask in the scenic views. I found one ground nest with eggs. Fortunately, the parent alerted me to it so I could avoid stepping on it. Similarly, when you are driving on the roads, be careful about crossing birds and chicks.
