.7 miles from the bridge (at 1800ft elevation) we crossed the creek on the left and followed a lovely side trail, more gradual and wider. A half mile from the creek crossing we came to a bluff with a very hidden side path on the left to an outcropping with views of the river. Made for about 3mi rt 600ft gain. Some gnarly but small sections of thick pastey super slick mud mostly around that creek crossing, but still passable. Not a speck of snow in sight.
