Started out very early to beat the heat. What a stunner! We were grateful to have made it up in the morning fog to keep us cool through the meadows. There are only two snow fields of note then the lake itself is still under considerable snow. The snow was pretty solid and we didn’t post hole. Trail is mostly melted out and clear. The only time we had a little difficulty trail finding was at the lake where there were many footpaths.
Took us exactly 6 hours round trip with a long rest at the lake itself for food and pictures. Clocked in 9.94miles on Strava.
Biggest recommendation is go early before it gets hot and the bugs come out. Most of our bug bites were actually at the car and not on the trail.

Thanks for this great information. Where the campsites still covered in snow? Headed out tomorrow for an overnight with 3 people.
