Heather - Maple Pass Loop — Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023

Heavy traffic in the parking lots, but spaces available. Fire at Sourdough Mtn caused some slowdown, lots of smoke to the north. The trail is in good shape,  no snow or debris on the east part of the loop.Not a lot of foot traffic on the loop trail, so it felt like you had the place almost to oneself. Except for the smoke to the northwest, the viz was quite clear. Black Peak, Frisco, Corteo, and the Goldenhorn grouping were all out in force. To the south, the Dome Pk. group and Goode peeping out were clearly visible. Great views east along Hwy 20. The trail is dry and dusty, not many birds out, but some flowers out around Heather Pass.
