Trip Report

Chelan Butte — Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023

Central Cascades > Entiat Mountains/Lake Chelan

It’s the very tail end of wildflower season but we did a see a few that were still hanging on. It was only 78 and mostly cloudy when we headed out. We went a mile up the trail before turning around. The sun was starting to come out more and there is no shade on the trail. It is also very dusty. You start climbing right away and it doesn’t really stop. A few areas it will level out a bit. There are sections of the wider trail that has very thick dirt/sand and creates a lot of dust. At the bottom is a paved trail for the chelan river walk and we walked a ways down to see the dam, which was open at the time. That was fun to see.
