Road to TH and the trail itself were in great condition. Near Surprise Lake, there was a downed log but it had a cut in it to make stepping over it much easier. Some of the steps early on along the trail were rotted out but they were easy to avoid.
The lakes were colder than I expected to swim in, but when the late afternoon sun was shining on them, it felt nice.
Saw a few pikas, I could hear their screeches while hiking down the trail.
