We enjoyed hiking out to Craft Island on a sunny and calm fall day. The trail was muddy and downright waterlogged in places, but we did ok wearing short rain boots.
We saw snow geese circling in a huge flock to the south and then land on the salt water. Once on Craft Island, we saw a harrier, cedar waxwings, and gulls. White Pelicans flew overhead on our walk back to the car. Mt. Rainier, the Olympics, and the North Cascades were all visible from the island, and we had great views of Mt. Baker from near the parking area.
This was a wonderful short hike between the views, the birding, and the flora (like licorice fern and junipers).
