North Cascades > North Cascades Highway - Hwy 20

We parked at the parking lot by Hwy 20 and had to scramble over the snow covered slide blocking the entry to the campground on the south side of the road. The trail was easy to follow with only one tree to climb over. We snowshoed to the bridge and back, excellent workout.

Perfect lunch spot.

I’m the guy eating lunch under the bridge. Next time I’ll make sure my eyes are open for the photo. There’s not a huge amount of snow there, maybe 6 to 8 inches. Most of the trail is under trees. You probably don’t need snowshoes once on the trail, but the crampons on the snowshoes were good to have. As Nellie said, it was a good workout. Loved the solitude. There wasn’t even another car in the parking lot. No one else had been on the trail since it snowed. You won’t get that in the summer.
