Trip Report

Lake Serene, Bridal Veil Falls — Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West

We arrived at the TH at 9am and there were only 12 cars in the parking lot. The two vault toilets were locked, evidently for the winter.

The trail up to the falls is in great shape, for the most part dry and the falls were worth the short but slightly steep climb up.

Heading up to the lake as the hike notes mentioned, it is a 1,300 feet of elevation in just 1.5 miles. Lots and lots of steps and rocks. The last 1/3 of the hike was snow covered which made it a bit slick so we broke out the micro spikes to make things easier.

Once we made it to the lake it was snowing lightly but still made for a beautiful lunch spot.   Really great hike that is worth the effort.

DK1998 on Lake Serene, Bridal Veil Falls

I've discussed this with others in previous trip reports... there's no freakin' way it's only 1.5 miles to the lake from the Bridal Veil Falls connector. There is a badly weathered sign there that says it's actually 2.7 miles, and that's definitely what it feels like. I wish someone would correct the WTA description.

I think it could be worded a little better (feel free to submit a correction!), but I don't think it's saying that the distance is 1.5 miles from the junction to the lake. It's saying that there are 1300' gained over 1.5 miles within that stretch. Some parts are fairly flat.

It's 3.6 miles from the car to the lake, according to the USFS trailhead sign, and about 1.6 or 1.7 to the Bridal Veil Falls junction. So it's about 1.9 or 2.0 miles to the lake from the junction.

You can see a good close-up picture of the trailhead sign in this excellent report: https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/trip-reports/trip_report.2019-05-12.8622288373.

Wood Fairy on Lake Serene, Bridal Veil Falls

I hike this trail twice a week and record every time on my garmin fenix watch. it is 3.6 miles from car to lake. 1.5 from the lower falls to lake. So probably about 1.8 or so from the junction. I will track it tomorrow and let you all know. :)
