Thanks for the caltopo link (kidzwonthike). At 9am we parked at coordinates 47.92189, -121.74980 at the yellow gate - but made sure not to block the gate in any way.
The trail starts flat and gradually heads up through a recently logged area. We saw some tiny yellow wildflowers as well as some (pink) berry flowers starting. Pretty uneventful, but good air and views. I imagine this would be a cool sunset place. Dogs loved it. Didn't see any other humans, but heard lots of gun shots/practice.
Once we got to the top it started raining (as expected) and opted to head back. We were back at the car at 12:15pm. my friend's phone said we did 5 miles, 1200 ft RT.
