Trip Report
Wedgemount Lake — Thursday, Jul. 31, 1997
Headed North to the land
of earmuffs and flannel shirts and visited Wedgemount Lake, which is hard by the Whistler Ski Resort. Wedge Mountain is the highest point in Garibaldi Provincial Park, and is a worthy destination if you have a day or two. Its about 5 hours to the trailhead from Seattle-just head for whistler and keep going about 18 k north of there...Big Sign ""Wedgemount Lake"". Friends, this is one of the steeper routes you will find...Trailhead is 2493 and the lip of the lake is 6100...all this in about 7 k...Steeper than the Grouse Grind if you have ever done that...But the scenery is exceptional. Theres a hut there, but dont sleep in it-you'd probably get Hanta virus from mouse turds. The route up Wedge is at the far end of the lake is very straightforward...This trip is an entymologists delight. The mosquitoes resemble Harriers...And as always, this country has the most beautiful women on earth.
