Hoping to avoid crowds and catch some of the last rays of sun this season I headed the Salmon le Sac area. I was thinking of heading up Scatter Creek 1328 -- but somehow missed the trail sign (it was hidden in plain sight I discovered on the way out) I choose to ingore the ""N."" on the trail sign. The first bit of the trail is an old road -- but that quickly disappears and it becomes appent that the trail is an old sheep driveway -- as it shoots straight up the hillside with nary a switchback. Despite the lack of switchbacks the trail is well marked with blazes and many cut blowdows. At about 1 1/3 miles the trail starts heading up a rib and a large ""Alpine Lakes Wilderness"" sign is passed. At about 2 miles the trail enters some meadows and start traversing to the right. In the meadows there is a small spring and what appears to have been the sheepherder's campsite decades ago. Follwowing the trail in the meadows takes a bit more concentration -- but isn't too bad. At about 2 2/3 miles a pass crossing over to Meadow creek is reached at about 6250ft. There is a good view of ""The Cradle"" and Cashmere Mtn from here.
To gain much bigger views (with a bit of scrambling) turn left and head up the ridgeline -- keeping to the left (south side) and following animal trails up a shallow gully. Nearing the top you have to pick your way through a small maze of rocks -- keep to the south side.
The top is small and sports a Mountaineer's PVC pipe register -- I think I was the sixth person for 2006 for Pt. 6821 -- or ""Tucquala Peak"" as dubbed by the Mountaineers.
Wide views from the summit -- All the central Cascades circle the peak, Particularly good views of Mt Daniel and ""The Cradle"".
