Returned to Grand Ridge today after hiking here with my son in December 2012. Hiked from the Central Park trailhead to the second log bridge along the Grand Ridge Trail and back. I figure it's about a six mile round trip hike. The trail is in great shape right now save for some mud and water on the trail in some spots. There are some moderate ups and downs along the Grand Ridge Trail but there is nothing too steep.
There was only one other group of hikers out today but I saw several mountain bikers today and one of them told me the trail was "greasy". So watch out for the grease if you are heading to Grand Ridge Park.
