Lime Kiln Trail — Saturday, Apr. 15, 2023

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway

It’s been about a decade since I did this hike, but i forgot how great it is! It’s an excellent spring conditioning hike. It’s great for kids and dogs as well. When I got to the trailhead there were maybe 15 cars there, but the trail didn’t feel crowded. Things are very slowly starting to bloom, but vegetation is still pretty brown (besides the abundance of moss and ferns!) The trail is in great shape except a couple spots right before the kiln and then right after the kiln. Few trees down and some mud in the trail. My dog was able to clear them all, but you would need to pick little ones up to get over the bigger downed trees. The river is raging and I was lucky to see some river kayakers going down stream which was cool! I took my time there, loving the fact that it wasn’t raining and the outside temp was perfect. Nothing much to report on the way back. Signage is AMAZING so there is no getting lost on this trail :)
