WTA Ambassadors

Ambassadors are outreach volunteers who represent WTA in their communities and across the state. Learn more about this exciting way to give back to trails and the people who love them.

WTA is a catalyst to help people connect to the joys of hiking, enhance trails through stewardship, and speak up for trails and public lands. We are working toward a future where Washington has trails for everyone, forever. Ambassadors help move this work forward.

ambassadors SUPPORT TRAILS AND THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE THEM

At WTA, we are committed to fostering an inclusive hiking community, where people of all identities are represented and feel welcome. Ambassadors help us with that goal. They represent WTA at community events, talk with the public about how to get involved, give presentations to local groups, talk with hikers at trailheads and help WTA stay on top of issues that hikers care about across the state. 

  • Examples of outreach Events include:
  • Sammamish Earth Day Celebration 
  • Ski to Sea Festival
  • Hiking basics workshops 
  • Washington Trails Day 
  • Refuge Outdoor Festival
  • Pacific Crest Trails Day
  • Valley Fest

    Opportunities for outreach range from large festivals like the Issaquah Salmon Days and the Ski to Sea Festival, to engaging with hikers at trailheads, to supporting WTA in statewide efforts like Washington Trails Day. Ambassadors also help to create and then deliver workshops about hiking safety and planning a hike using WTA's free resources. Through talking with the public, ambassadors are able to help hikers and people who want to get outside find the information they need, encourage them to volunteer and give back to trails and more.
