Celebrate 60 Years with Washington Trails Association
In 1966, WTA began as a humble newsletter called Signpost — marking the beginning of a remarkable journey to connect hikers to trails and to protect public lands.
Over the years our mission has evolved, and today we are also one of the largest trail-maintenance nonprofits in the country, driven by a passionate community of members, partners and volunteers.
Our first 60 years have been shaped by your hands, your time, your voices and your love for trails and the outdoors — and for that, we also celebrate you.
With a statewide network of volunteers and supporters like you, WTA has worked a total of 3 million hours on trail over 60 years! That’s 1,100 trails maintained, restored or saved. And we’re just getting started.
Throughout the year, we’re highlighting WTA’s growth, innovation and perseverance with stories that show how your contributions have helped advance our mission over the years. And our gratitude will be present in every blog, magazine story, social post, newsletter and appeal.
Looking ahead to the next 60 years, our vision is clear: Trails for everyone, forever.®
