Another warm day on another peak as the temp. inversion continues. The road off I90, exit 47 was icy and parking space scarce so we parked near the Granite Mtn trailhead. We hiked back over I90 as we followed the "Kloke Guide" to Little Saint Helens. The open areas of snow provided good traction, although hard to kick good steps while ascending. The snow through the second-growth forest was much softer, requiring snow-shoes. Poles, good boots, gators, snowshoes required for this Winter trip. The day remained below freezing at the lower elevations. On the open areas of the summit and ridge the wind was relentless. However temps. felt warm when not blown by the easterly winds. We did not linger on top. Views were great for a lower-elevation summit (4582'), and the sunshine was a bonus for this time of year.
