In a last-minute change of objective, we decided to switch our hike from
Johnson Creek to Jungle Creek, up the Teanaway, since reports indicated the
Jungle Creek road was now driveable and the Jungle Creek trail was more
enjoyable. We ascended the Jungle Creek trail to the Way Creek trail junction, then partway up Malcolm Mt, just high enough to enjoy a wider view of the Stuart and Enchantment peaks during lunch. The views and sun were superb as was the chance to hike in t-shirts all day. The creek crossings were manageable (easier with poles) but the road to the trailhead is better suited to higher clearance vehicles, such as Outbacks, due to one bad spot. Our stats were 5.5 miles roundtrip, with a bit over 1,800 feet of gain. Photos here:
