After setting up camp at Lone Fir CG, we drove the Harts Pass Road to Slate Peak. The road seemed rougher than last year, but snow was not a problem. As we neared Harts Pass the flowers were beautiful. Paintbrush, lupine, forget-me-nots, Columbia Lewisia and phlox were some of the flowers seen. After Harts Pass glacier lilies were the predominant flowers. We parked at the gate below Slate Peak and walked the 1/4 mile to the LO gaining 300 feet. The 360 degree views were spectacular! Many wildflowers were seen along the short trail. Silky phacelia, moss campion in the rocks above the road, phlox, yellow daisies, desert parsley, yellow flowers I can't identify from the books we have, and Jacob's ladder were some of the flowers seen. This is the place to be on a clear day when you are in the area!
