Ira Spring Trail - Mason Lake — Sunday, Jun. 7, 2015

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
Set out at 9 AM from trail head for our first trip to Mason Lake. On the way up, we encountered a work crew at the creek building a new bridge. The creek was running low enough that there was no need for a bridge today however. The group I was with is training for a multi-day hike later this summer and this was a great trek to take with a load on our back. If you have not hiked this trail before, the trail has a fairly steep exposed (south facing - Hot) incline for much of the trail so be prepared. The trail peaks at a ridge with views south to Mt. Rainier before descending to the lake. We hiked around to the North side of the lake to soak up the sun and sit with our feet in the water while eating lunch. The water was even warm enough for a few brave souls to go for a swim.
