Silver Peak, Cold Creek Loop via Tinkham and Silver Peaks — Saturday, Jun. 27, 2015

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass

Centrally located on Snoqualmie Pass, Silver Peak can be seen from both sides of I90 and can be approached from 3 directions. Make your way up from Mirror Lake, Annette Lake or do the loop starting on the Cold Creek Trail as we are on this trip. Follow along Cold Creek to the Twin Lakes before climbing a rugged trail to meet the Pacific Crest trail and views of the side of Silver Peak. Along the way pass by the tarns below Tinkham Peak. Keep your eyes out for a sharp left turn (marked by rock cairns not a labeled sign). Climb the steep and rocky scramble in places passing by the trails to Abeal peak. Follow the switchbacks onto the rocky slopes of Silver Peak cresting above Annete lake and winding it’s way to the top. I was greeted by swarms of flying ants, didn’t stay on the summit for long. Down below see I90 wrapping around and the upper flanks of Nordic ski trails directly below the steep northeast face. To make the loop follow along the Pacific Crest trail crossing cold creek and connecting to forest road 9070 past the Mount Catherine trail head and back down to the Cold Creek trail head alongside the road.
