Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
There are two ways to access this trail. #1: Take the I-90 Exit 32. The road from I-90 has you pass the popular Mount Si and Mount Teneriffe trailheads where the paved road turns to gravel. You drive until you hit NF 9010-1 aka CCC Road and are stopped by the DNR 902 blue gate. At this point it is on foot for about 2.5 miles with no more than 200ft of elevation gain. The road has a few over-grown offshoots, stay on the main road. The service road continues on and turns to a hiking path only. From there the trail is narrow and begins its continual elevation climb with a series of switchbacks up the hillside. At about the 2600ft elevation, the path is trickier to follow as it works through the trees with no visible path so be sure to look for ribbons along the way. We were unable to find a trail or ribbons towards the top, it became very difficult to follow a trail. I would recommend navigation equipment and be ready to scramble. #2: Take the I-90 Exit 34. The road from I-90 has you pass the popular Mailbox trailhead on SE Middle Fork Road that turns to NF-5600. As you drive past Mailbox trail for another 2.5-3 miles, you will hit the a concrete bridge over the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River. User "Ellisa" has great details below in their trip report. I copied their link as it sounds very helpful since we utilized the NF-9010 aka CCC Road. http://tmber.com/routes/wa/green-mountain-snoqualmie CCC Road: On our way back down the CCC Road, we were about a 1/2 mile along the flat portion on our return and encountered a black bear that came out of the bushes about 75 ft in front us. That was definitely a site to see! Overall, we will definitely recommend it, just be ready to work for the summit.
