Silver Peak — Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
Hiking on a sunny day would be most of us looking for. Not on this trail, not at this season. This relatively short trail, 5.6-mile roundtrip, reveals its full beauty only on a raining, foggy mid-autumn day. Diversified terrain, water falls one after another, festive fall color... not to say all submerged in thin films of mist. Trail conditions are fair; yes, like most of the other trails in this area, rain water takes the trail as its path for several sections. -- Water-proof boots are strongly recommended. Traffic is pretty light. Less than 10 folks took this trail on a Sunday. Make sure you stay on track. We got off the trail a couple of times apparently misled by water-ways. If it is your first time to this trail, it may help downloading the map forehand. Alltrails.com has a decent version. Rocky and windy at the last leg of about half a mile. Can be very chilly too at this time of the year. A pair of water-proof gloves will make life easier. Reminder: when approach the summit, for about 100 yards, the trail is only few steps from steep cliff. I would take extreme caution on a near-freezing weather; or simply wait for a warmer day -- this beauty will always be here!
