Our group planed to do mailbox - dirtybox - granite lakes traverse. But only did mailbox peak due to schedule conflict.
We started from the old trail at 9:35am and it rained heavily at the trailhead. But the rain wasn't a problem once we were in the forest. The road was mostly dry and much easier than what I hiked in April. There were snow starting from the junction with the new trail, but not an issue if you are careful. A path was introduced in the boulder field, which made the trail easier with less fun.
Most of our group reached the peak in 2 hours 30 minutes or less. It was cold at the top and soon we headed down after drank some coffee and snapped couple pictures. We descended from the old trail in less than 2 hours and two group members even ran down the old trail.
On our way down, we talked with a gentleman and was told that he hiked this trail every week and that day was his 32nd hiking of mailbox old path. Very impressive.
