Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
Revolution Peak by JohnFang
Our group (4 people) attempted Revolution peak today. We started from the shortcut trail at 8:30am, which joined the granite lakes trail in a little bit over 1 mile. We counted 45+ creek crossings one way, which were difficult because we had to go down and up steep snow to cross and which significantly slowed down our paces. A little before the first ridge along the granite lakes trail, we had to put on snowshoes. There were very deep fresh snow and we had to break trail starting from the bridge. Once turned to the Thompson point trail, snow got even deeper and seemed no one had been there for quite some time. The way to Thompson point was to follow the logging road and not very steep except two places where we used ice axe to climb up. We skipped the cabin and chose a shortcut to Thompson point directly. The view was gorgeous and all the efforts were worthy at the sight of such a beautiful view. It was already 3:00pm in the afternoon and we didn't have enough day time to continue to revolution peak and we turned back after a short rest and some photo time. The descend was much faster, but the creek crossing was still slow. We used headlamps and safely returned back to our car at 7:00pm. If you want to go to Thompson point or revolution peak, please be prepared for a long and hard day. Most likely you won't see anyone but yourself. Snowshoes and ice axe are highly recommended due to deep snow and two steep slopes. Creek crossing could be difficult and time-consuming.
