Web Mountain via Putrid Pete's Peak — Saturday, Apr. 1, 2017

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
Webb Mountain by JohnFang
Our group attempted Web mountain today. We started from dirty Harry's trailhead. Soon it turned out that the existing trail was gone and we had to bushwhack our way up by using GPS. We made shortcut by climbing up a talus slope directly and then passed steep slopes to reach dirty Harry's peak trail, which was still visible even with many fallen trees. We took the spur trail toward the tarn under Web mountain to try to go up Web mountain from there. Unfortunately, the visibility was very low and the snow was very wet and too loose to hold even snowshoes. We tried some time but couldn't make too much progress on the snow and had to turn back. On our way back, we took the birdhouse trail to avoid the bushwhack in steep slopes. There were some new trails still in building, which sometimes confused us and led us to some wrong direction. Also, birdhouse trail went close to cliffs in a place, watch out for your way because the trails were full of fallen tree and tree leaves. There was one point, seemed the trail disappeared on the top of cliffs, we went down a spur trail and then connected back to the main trail. We won't recommend this route with the current situation. Bushwhacking and routefinding are challenging. Also, on our way back, we found signs stating that this area is closed for maintenance until summer.
