Teens Get Outdoors This Spring
Do you know a student looking for something to do over their school spring break? Washington Trails Association may have just the answer.
In April, WTA is offering an "Alternative Spring Break" for teens. Students can spend a day (or several days) outdoors earning service hours while improving hiking trails. Youth volunteers will learn how to use cool hand tools, meet other kids their age, and feel great about giving back to the hiking community. Students can earn service hours, too--up to 8 hours on each work party.
We're hosting two full weeks of Spring Break trail work parties for teens in April. They'll be every weekday, April 9-13 at Spring Lake/ Lake Desire near Renton, and then again every weekday April 16-20 at Cougar Mountain near Issaquah.
If these dates don't fall during your school Spring Break, you're still in luck. WTA is hosting unique work parties once a month just for youth, and these are kicking off with our first one on Saturday, Feb 25 at Tiger Mountain near Issaquah.
Youth ages 10 and up are encouraged to participate. All youth under 18 must have a Parental Consent Form signed by parent or guardian. In addition, kids ages 13 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the work party.
