From the third trailhead, hike uphill away from the lake. A flat trail will appear above the parking lot.
Going right (south) the track passes by the other parking lot, and eventually crosses the asphalt entrance road. On the other side of the road, the path continues but in the depression east of the old track. After awhile the tread climbs up to the right and regains the track.
Pass by the southernmost parking lot, and the trail continues. Just when it appears that the trail ends at the brink of a cliff, ascend steeply to the left and follow the trail once more southward as it continues faintly.
Eventually, the trail peters out and joins a road. Follow the road to the right, as it eventually becomes single track, going steeply down. Cross a white water pipe, and pick up the trail on the other side. From here, the trail goes through nice pine forest and eventually there are several short wooden stakes in the ground and signs on the opposite side indicating land office property boundary.
This is the southern terminus, a bit more than a mile south of the parking lots.
If you choose to go north from the parking lot you follow the track for a quarter-mile before it heads down to the left through two nice Ponderosa trees, and the route weaves its way through the forest. Folks who are sensitive to heights may want to turn back and walk the beach.
Continuing on, the path eventually heads left and down to a flat area past a giant cedar tree, where remnants of asphalt demonstrate it used to be a road. Follow the old roadbed right (north) for a ways and a little shed appears by the lake. At this point you can follow the road up to the highway or can walk the beach. By the time you reach the beach you're about a mile from the parking area.
