Hiking Burnt Bridge Creek Greenway Trail

This pleasant Vancouver trail follows Burnt Bridge Creek through a variety of landscapes, including open grasslands, wetlands, and forests. Nature lovers use the trail to watch waterfowl, listen to song birds, and perhaps spot a coyote or deer. The eight-mile greenbelt has multiple access points, allowing this hard-surfaced trail to be conveniently divided into sections.

The eastern section flows through meadows and wetlands; the middle section passes by soccer fields and under power lines; and the western section is mostly forested. These sections may be done independently or combined for a longer hike. For your convenience, there is a separate hiking guide entry for each section.

The directions below point to the eastern-most trailhead. For information and directions to other access points see each of the other guide entries.

NOTE: Burnt Bridge Creek is named for a small, primitive bridge built over the creek in 1889. As the population expanded, traffic shifted to a larger bridge build in 1885. The little bridge subsequently burnt down giving the creek its name.

Wheelchair Accessibility

Burnt Bridge Creek is an 8-mile paved trail linking several greenspaces in Vancouver. The trail is accessible via transit and parking areas dotted along the way, and aside from the occasional branch down, is obstacle free, flat and very slightly graded with no cross-slope.
