This route weaves through White Pass Ski Area, following service roads that become cattracks in the winter to get hikers from the base area at White Pass to the summit. Hikers can also connect in to the Pacific Crest Trail to continue hiking to Shoe Lake, a popular day-hiking destination deeper into the backcountry.
The route up through the ski area starts from the east side of the base area and it is possible to walk up a variety of routes to the summit where the trail ultimately connects with the Pacific Crest Trail within Goat Rocks Wilderness. There are service roads that become cattracks in the winter paired with steep slopes.
On the far east side of the resort boundaries is a rolling hillside with two small lakes that provide nice places to relax partway up the mountain if necessary.
