Hiking Connelly Creek Trail

The Connelly Creek Nature Area sits in Bellingham's Happy Valley neighborhood, near both Happy Valley Elementary School and Sehome High School. Its short 1-mile trail splits the area's forest vertically, paralleling its namesake creek and crossing it at one point.

Getting There

Although there are multiple access points to the park, most are either in residential neighborhoods with no good parking options or on busy roads. Your best option to access the trail if you don't reside within the neighborhood may be via public transit.

Northern TRailhead (Ferry St)

Take Whatcom Transportation Authority routes 105, 107, 108, 190 or 196 to Bill McDonald Pkwy at Ferry Ave. Cross the street if needed to head onto Ferry St. Walk along the south side of the street for about 0.2 mile. The trail heads into the trees on your right.

Southern TRailhead (Donovan Ave)

Take route 105 to Donovan Ave at 31st St and walk a few hundred feet to the west on Donovan Ave. The trail heads into the forest on your right.
