Hiking Cougar Trails

Encompassing a river, a disc golf field, and quiet forested areas, this network is good for all skill levels.

Take advantage of six miles of walking, jogging and biking paths. Designated jogging paths and interpretive trails provide all-weather walking surface wide enough for two people.

There is a popular, unpaved path that follows both sides of Mill Creek. It is a riparian zone with conifers and broadleaf trees. Creek restoration efforts have allowed for fish to return here from the Salmon Creek riparian zone protection project.

The other unimproved trails are typical of what hikers would find in many forested areas of the region. Meadows here are maintained for fire control, recreation and habitat for animals living here.

WTA worked here in 2021 and 2018!

WTA Pro Tip: Save a copy of our directions before you leave! App-based driving directions aren't always accurate and data connections may be unreliable as you drive to the trailhead.

Getting There

Drive I-5 north to Exit 7 for N.E. 134th Street. After exiting, turn right on N.E. 134th Street.

Drive 1.2 miles as 134th becomes Salmon Creek Avenue. Turn left onto WSU Entrance Road at the sign for WSU Vancouver.

Keep on the Entrance Road as you drive up and around the campus for 1.3 miles, dropping to the last public parking area, the Gray Lot, above a pond and forested area. (There are also a few metered spots in the Green Lot, 0.9 miles from the entrance of Salmon Creek Avenue.)
