Hiking Deschutes River

This loop trail combines three of the four trails in the park and takes you along the river a short distance before hiking up the canyon's slopes with increasing views to the 750 foot high point.

From the parking lot, walk 0.2 miles across a grassy lawn to the trailhead sign. You will return on the Riverview Trail to the left. At a little more than half a mile, reach a gauging station and a connecting trail to the Riverview Trail.

From the Riverview Trail hike to the Rail Trail then go right until you see the sign for the South trailhead for Ferry Springs. In 0.8 miles, arrive at the 750 foot high point, where you climb over a barbed-wire fence via stairs and then begin your descent of 0.9 miles down to the North trailhead of the Ferry Springs Trail.

From here find the spur trail that takes you to the Riverview Trail and your return to your vehicle.
