Hiking Dorado Needle

The route to Dorado Needle is a Class 3 and involves exposed scrambles and glacier crossings. Gear and experience are recommended.

After parking along the south side of the Cascade River, you will need to walk downstream to a log crossing before continuing north into the woods. The path will take you up along the west side of Eldorado Creek until you meet a talus field at 4,000 feet. From there, you will reach a second talus field and follow the climber's path to the east. After reaching the base of a small waterfall, you will follow a steep trail up to an open basin with available campsites.

The trail from here will switchback to a nearby western ridge and descend slightly into the Roush Creek Basin. Proceed north over another talus field until you reach the Eldorado Glacier. Head north to the Inspiration Glacier and then onward onto the McAllister Glacier. Dorado Needle will be just to your west.
