Hiking Squak Mountain Access Trail

Take the Squak Mountain Access Trail to access trails on the east side of the mountain: East Ridge, East Side, Phil's Creek, Old Griz, and more.

From the parking area at the Issaquah Trail Center, head west on Bush Street to the junction with Front Street. Cross at the light and turn south onto Newport Way. Follow Newport Way as it approaches Issaquah Creek, then continue south on Wildwood Boulevard as it climbs out of town. You'll come to some RV parking on your left just before a group of apartments and condominiums. The Issaquah Creek Dam lies to the east of these buildings and is where you'll find a paved trail that winds past the apartments and condominiums.

Hiking quickly, you will get past these buildings in just a few minutes. You'll pop out on Sunrise Place street. Across the street and to your left will be the Squak Mountain Access trailhead, about 1 mile from your starting point. There is very limited parking near the trailhead, for those that can't or won't make the hike through town. Once on the trail, you are instantly in woods.
