The Hindoo Trail, formerly part of a large trail network, is now essentially an Elk path. When well-used by the large animals that live in this area, the trail is easy to follow. But it's easy to lose if the elk haven't stayed on trail.
Beginning from the Rattlesnake Trail, hike along Rattlesnake Creek for 1.8 miles to a fork. The left trail is a continuation of Trail 1114, while the right is the Hindoo Trail. Hot, dry and dusty, the Hindoo Trail zigs over Dog Creek before zagging back towards Hindoo Creek and climbing up the ridge above the creek for 3.3 miles and 2371 feet (whew)!
If you can follow the trail that high, you'll be at another intersection. Here, a left turn will keep you on Hindoo Trail for 2 steep miles downhill, leading to a dead-end near Hindoo Creek.
Alternately, a right turn leads 0.8 miles on the Lookout Creek Trail before tying into the main Mount Aix trail.
Of course, all this depends on whether or not you can see the trail.
