Hiking John Nelson Trail

Within walking distance of the Bainbridge Island ferry dock, this short loop hike follows Winslow Ravine. This trail is tucked in right next to the highway, but it is a serene little get-away. This loop runs through a corridor of public land that is bordered by private property so be sure to stay on the trail.

Getting There

driving directions

There is no parking at the trailhead so you will need to park somewhere in downtown Winslow and walk to the start of this trail, or consider walking on the ferry from downtown Seattle and walking to the trail from the Bainbridge Island ferry dock.

Travel north on the Sound to Olympics Trail, which parallels WA-305, for 0.5 mile, then turn right onto Vineyard Lane. Stay left at the fork to continue on Jon Nelson Lane. In a couple hundred feet you will see the beginning of the trail on your left.

Take Transit

This trailhead is accessible by bus! Plan your visit by bus using TOTAGO, or consult the schedule for Kitsap Transit routes 333 or 390.

Stop at the intersection of WA-305 and Vineyard Lane, which is a few hundred feet from the start of the trail.
